The short, plain-language version

Most analytics tools follow people. Unmoatable counts visits instead. Here’s exactly what that means, without the legalese. The full details are in our Privacy Policy.

We don’t use cookies

Nothing is stored on a visitor’s device — no cookies, no local storage, no persistent ID. That’s why sites using Unmoatable generally don’t need an annoying cookie banner for our analytics.

We can’t identify anyone

We never store IP addresses or names. To tell visitors apart within a single day, we turn the IP and browser into a scrambled, one-way code that can’t be unscrambled and is thrown away and regenerated every night. The next day, the same visitor looks like a brand new one — so no one can be followed over time or from site to site.

We collect only what a chart needs

Page path, where the visit came from, rough location (country/region/city, never the exact IP), the kind of browser and device, and the time. We strip query strings off URLs before saving them, so accidental personal data in a link doesn’t get stored.

We respect Do Not Track

If a visitor’s browser says “Do Not Track,” we send nothing at all.

We don’t sell anything

Your data is yours. We don’t sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it for any purpose other than showing you your own stats. Delete a site or your account and its data ages out of our systems.
